ONLY A SMALL THING AND SILLY I KNOW BUT STILL GUTTED!

Less than one minute read time.

Had a call from national blood service today to remind me of my appointment to donate my 68th pint next week, I had to tell them about to start chemo and could they put my file on hold for a while.  I was really surprised and gutted when they told me I would no longer be able to give blood and "thank you for the last 19 years of donations".

Given everything we go through with BC, ops, chemo, radio, hormone therapy you'd think this wouldn't matter but it really did, I was hoping to make it to 100 pints and meet the queen for tea or something like that!!!

This journey has many twists and turns and guess just starting out so not sure whats round the next bend.

I do know that I will  stay strong,  I am going to get through this and come out the other end with the sun on my face and maybe not the wind in my hair (but on my head)  I am going to do this and still be me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well Alex (and everyone else who has given blood)

I, for one think you have done a wonderful job having given blood at all - no matter how much or indeed how little.

I AM A BIG GIRL'S BLOUSE (there, I've said it!)

I never gave blood becasue of this and when I was young, didn't really think enough about it.  Just too embarrased in case I fainted.

After I had BC in 1996 - I was kind of relieved that I had an excuse not to do it.

Now at the grand old age of 44 and suffereing from a different cancer, I have received pints of the stuff and I have had a Stem Cell Transplant from a donor.

I feel ashamed that I never did my bit - but am helpless to rectify the situation.

I am so greatful to everyone who gives blood as I can't thank those who have helped me personally and always say thank you to anyone who tells me they have.

But you all have helped someone and saved lives - Alex as Debs said you could have potentially saved 67 lives - just imagine.

Don't be sad - you have done a wonderful thing.

    Take care all.

Thanks ValS really appreciate your comments :)

Sleepy Jo so sorry to hear you are having to battle again with another type of cancer, and you should never feel ashamed about 'not doing your bit'  blood donation is a really personal choice no other members of my family have donated because of the needle factor and I didn't quite think about the 67 potential people I could have reached!! Thank you for your support I really do appreciate it!!

I feel so much better after reading all these wonderful posts!!!!

Take care everyone and stay strong!!

    Love and hugs to all

    Alex,

67.pints of blood. The amount of people you have helped. and saved their lives. Is something to be very proud of. If everyone who can give blood gave just a pint, look at the diference it would make to all the people who needed transfusions.

I reckon you did a Bloody good job."Pardon the Pun".

Take care and be safe.Love Sarsfield.xx
