Anxious about TAX chemo

Less than one minute read time.

Hi

Have now had three FEC 100 and due in three weeks to start three cycles of docetaxel.  Has anyone had this chemo and what type of side effects did you have? I know everyone is different and I've been quite well with the FEC about two days feeling rubbish followed by 2 weeks of feeling well.  Just a bit anxious now about this next lot of chemo, as its the unknown that worries me.

Any advice would be most welcome, thank you xx

    Hi

I have done Docetaxel although not following the FEC as i had a break from being in remission and it was about the same as being on FEC maybe a little easier so hope this helps eases some of your worries and you can be prepared better.

    wishing you well xx

    Hi Alex,

I have had 4 FEC and due to have my 4th Taxoter on friday. Tax is the same as Doc. I have found Tax more emotionaly draining than the FEC, also I have had pains in my legs which have got less with each cycle. With each one my tongue and and inside my mouth became white and slightly swollen. Paint your nails both hands and toe nails a dark colour to keep the sun of them. the only problem I have had is by the 6-7 day my finger tips become sore. The side affects are different for us all hopefully they won't be as bad for you.

good luck, love and hugs Amanda xxx

Thanks englishrose, I know that its different for each of us so fingers crossed won't be as bad as FEC.

Thanks Amanda for your reply do you feel more drained because of the waiting around and long infusion time? Will be painting all nails black, will pinch some of my daughters polish ha ha!!! and hopefully will be ok with this, but as you know its always the unknown that makes us anxious, I'll be ok once I know what I'm dealing with.

Love and gentle hugs to you both   Alex xx

    Hi,

Can I ask how bad the nausea is with Tax. It's taken me three FEC to get the nausea drug Emend which works for me.   Do I need to ask for it for Tax too? I know it affects us all differently but any advice helps.

    Hugs to all.

    Thanks, Whiskey.

    Hi whiskey,

Well my first TAX is this morning so will let you know, have heard that TAX is not so bad for nausea it seems to be aches in muscles and bones, but I know they can give pain killers for that.

    Will keep you posted.

Love and gentle hugs Alex x
