The holiday, cancer and me Part5

3 minute read time.
Hi guys...............this one may be a bit long winded, sorry but it involves my charity night and just shows what love, friendship and kindness is still out there when you need it, the holiday and food will be mentioned to!!!!!!! My oncoligist asked me if I had any questions after he'd explained about my course of treatment. I only had two........one, would I loose all my waist-length hair? two, could I still have a drink with my mates. The answer was yes to both. I decided to turn something negative into something positive, so myself and my bosses from the nightclub where I worked as number two door supervisor and friends, deciced to do a charity night to raise money to help build a childrens hospice here in Cornwall, also involved were Steve and Sue from The Hole in the Wall pub, who did an auction night and Sue and Janet from The White Hart pub did a week of events. At work, The Eclipse Nightclub held the most fantastic night, we all, well most of us raised money. My friends at the club had made me a door bitch (my sort of offical title!) chariot made out of an old shopping trolley, attached to that was a horses harness which was put around Rob, who is my adopted son and doorman neck and I was given a whip by Audrey, who is a barmaid at the club and a great friend and I was pulled around the club. !!!! I cannot describe this night and give it any justice, I will never be able to tell you how I felt. I did find out though, that I was more loved, liked and respected than I could ever have known and it was having cancer that brought it to light. It was a Thursday night at the club and I was worried that not many people would turn up, but oh my lord was I suprised. I had only just had my 2nd session of chemo the day before the event, I was tired because I had been heamourging for 10 days and had to be given a blood transfusion and the chemo kicked in quickly, but that didn't matter, I was going no matter what. My son Karl, drove me up to the club, I had a black mini skirt on, my white work shirt and tie and my black belt with a buckle which read BITCH on it in large silver letters and a pair of black thigh boots!! I had hoped to have had my hair shaved off at the club for the charity but my hair started to fall out in clumps, so my boss, Roger came to VK stylists, owned by Vicky, a school friend of my daughter Toni and Roger filmed my hair being cut off and it was screened on the clubs TVs. I was dissapointed in myself, but I had no control of that. LLANGOLLEN We headed off for Llangollen which is one of my favourite places. Normally we would have stopped at Trevor and The Telford Inn, where there is the most amazing steak pie served up, the shortcrust pastry dissolves in your mouth and the meat is lean and so tender that it falls apart, but this time I passed up the offer of the steak pie for Llangollen instead. The countryside gets better on this part of the journey when the hills appear, pine trees stand proud and in abundance, you may see the occassional house on show through the mass of green, tucked away and remote. To get to Trevor you have to cross the Pontcysyllte Aquaduct, which is an engineering feat in itself. It carries the canal 120 feet high across the river Dee, it is over a 1,000 feet long, 127 feet tall at its deepest point, and consists of an iron trough supported by 18 stone piers.
