Side effects form third Cycle of Chemotherapy

Less than one minute read time.
Hi to one and all! I seem to be having a few blips at this end - well, I hope that's all they are BLIPS!! As I've mentioned previously, a couple of my cycles of chemotherapy; no: 2 and 3 have been postponed due to low white blood cell counts. On the second cycle, this didn't appear to have any adverse effects on me. However, with this cycle I have been left TOTALLY lethargic, with some difficulty in breathing, which whilst not alarming, is disconcerting. I was told prior to this 3rd cycle being administered that the strength of the chemotherapy drugs were going to be reduced in strength, in the hope of not having to postpone my 4th and final cycle of chemotherapy due too the low white blood cell count. I hope I'm not creating a fuss over nothing, but would maybe feel a bit better and more confident if I heard of anyone else who this has affected. If anyone can help just jot me a wee note - with grateful thanks love from kate ccccccccccccccc

Additional to PM. I hope you are feeling a little better now.  You don't have to win any marathons, just get married and crawl off to bed.  That's what we all do.  Even your friends at the reception? will understand if you feel exhausted.  Don't worry about that.

You won't have to have any more chemo if you are so drained by this one.  Certainly see your oncologist for advice first.

I had 30 weeks, 7 and a bit cycles, but I was fine and didn't have to miss any.  I did get a misunderstanding because (I think) at some stage, my file was mixed up with another lady's file and I was told I only had 4 more weeks, when it was actually 8.  We were both on the same pattern of the same drug (5FU) but she started a few weeks before me.

If you have to miss a week or two, never mind.  Did you have something else to do?  Just go with the flow.  As I said, if you are really tired, see your oncologist.  You may have a low cell count.  It can't be rushed, and you don't want to be poisoned any faster than you have to be.

Lie back, rest, get people to peel grapes for you, perfect being languid.

Have a really happy wedding tomorrow, and a lovely life together!

    love

Very sorry to hear that you are struggling.  It could just be the cumulative effects of this stuff building up in your system.   I suffered from terrible fatigue where it took me a huge act of willpower to get out of bed once a day to go for radiotherapy:  it's hard to understand just exactly how overwhelming it is unless personally experienced.  I spoke about it to the oncologists but they just said, part of the side-effects.

Hope you improve soon.  Please keep us posted.  xxx Penny
