Just Unlucky ?

1 minute read time.

I'm 39 and living with my partner in Scotland.  My father died from a Brain Tumor in his early fifties, my sister was diagnosed with breast cancer last year and is now continuing her remedial therapy after successful chemo treatment.  My brother of 52, died on the 21st of Dec this year from a rare type of Lymphoma.   I feel now is a time for myself to ensure my own wellbeing and do something positive for Cancer treatments and patients.  I've set targets for the coming year with my partner for fundraising and raising more awareness for the for cancer research.

I'm wondering if i'm unlucky to have had 3 family members all with different types of cancer or in anyway are these connected by family genetics.  It's worrying that i could be in a high risk situation or low risk and only affected by considerably bad luck.

Jim, my brother passed away within a week of being diagnosed, i was shocked at the speed at which this occured and i'm trying to come to terms with the circumstances in which this occured.

It's made me  think more closely at the fine balance of life and how i can now help to raise funds and awareness for cancer support.
