Tuesday 9th January Day 6

1 minute read time.

Well I slept loads better last night after taking a Phenagran at 7pm ish. I did still wake up but I didn't stay awake. It was stingy around my picc dressing where its been changed so much, twice on Thursday than again yesterday, feels a bit of a combination of sunburn and burn from oven. Hopefully it will ease again soon.

I eventually got up and made a cuppa, again, this is becoming a habit, then afterwards had to get my husband to help fit my waterproof Picc cover, I had a shower, you don't realise how helpless you are when one arm is restricted whith what it can do, needed help with washing hair, my upper body privates and especially my back. I have a shower seat, so atleast I can do a little bit. Feel silly needing a hand to dry off afterwards and to dry my hair( once that falls out it will be easier)

Had some fruit toast and tea, I could taste the mixed peel which was really nice.

Went for a short walk just to get some fresh air and get out of the house, it was chilly but I was wrapped up well.

Ate pork chop smothered in 5 spice with salad leafs I could taste slightly, but tomatoes, olives, gherkins were just textures, Had an aldi vanilla protein  yoghurt for tea it was yummy, cool on my tongue a bit of creaminess and my favourite food now, ate a few chips and some cheese and prostutio, almonds and some nougat.

Feeling a bit useless,  today, but doing my best. Had my Filgrastim injection, will take Phenagran again tonight.

  • You're doing so well Alison! Don't feel useless, resting and giving your body what it asks for is your new full time job and it's the most important job ever! Let hubby help you I'm sure he's be happy he can be involved in your healing too

I have my second cycle on Thursday this week,  and I'm enjoying in the meantime feeling "back to normal", or what our new normal is for a bit Blush

  • Hi Jess I'm feeling a bit better this morning and I've sent my husband off playing bowls. I have a friend coming around later that I've not seen since I started my chemo which will be lovely.

Do you also have a picc line, I'm still trying to get used to it. Good luck with second cycle tomorrow, hope all goes well for you. Xxx

  • You’re getting on so well. I didn’t realise you’d lose your taste so quick but I guess everyone is different.
Hope you have a good sleep and feel better tomorrow

  • Hi Kaza

I wasn't expecting to lose my taste so quickly either, but it's fun trying to explain to hubby, what I can taste or feel. It's a little bit better tonight, so maybe it's just temporary each session. I'm going to try the sweets my parents sent me home with later.

    Xxx
