Tuesday 13th February Day 13 post 3rd EC

1 minute read time.

I woke up in the middle of the night with lower tummy pain. This was something I haven't had before but I think it was just trapped wind, so after massaging my tummy for a while it eased off a bit, after a good couple of blastsJoyJoy I didn't disturb or suffocate my sleeping husband (wart hog) beside me, luckily.

Had a nice walk in the rain after breakfast, no more tummy pain. I am putting it down to the chicken Kiev I had for dinner lastnight. It was nice though.

I had my fortnightly phone call from my oncologist this afternoon. She was really pleased to hear that I am still  coping so well with the chemo. She advised me to take the laxido as soon as I get home from the next session on Thursday and to carry on taking for a few days following as she said it's mainly the Ondanserton that i have via IV before chemo and the tablets for a couple days after that are the main culprit for constipation. I asked if she had my blood results from yesterday and she said yes, and things were good for my session this week. The only real thing she mentioned was my Iron levels are low, and maybe if no improvement next time she will get me started on iron meds, but as they also give constipation she will wait and see. I'm going to try and eat more iron rich foods to try and reduce the need for supplements. I will grab some liver and kidneys when we go shopping, plus some more prunes and apricots etc. I'm just glad that this week's chemo is still going ahead.

I asked about the next chemo which will be Paclitaxel and if I will continue to have the same meds that I am having now. Apparently they will carry on as now apart from the Aprepitant, which I take before chemo and for the following 2 day. So Filgrastim injections will still continue as well as the Ondanserton and Dexamethasone as well as Metoclopramide when required.

Had a nice late lunch today, and going to have some pancakes later.

I'm feeling a bit tired so I might have an early night tonight.

Hope you all gave a great evening. X

  • That’s good news Alison. You’re very lucky to have such regular contact with your oncologist.

I had an initial consultation with my oncologist. Then before my treatment began I saw her registrar. My next appointment is in March.

Make the most of your day tomorrow xxx

  • Hi Kazza

Well my mornings started early today. 3.30 Disappointed

Well I take it this lady is my oncologist as she is the one I saw before my Chemo started, she's really nice, and I have had telephone appointments with her before each chemo session. Xx
