Thursday 15th February just had my Last EC

1 minute read time.

Woke up this morning with chronic stomach pains, It felt like I had done an all night workout with stomach crunches, but I knew I hadn't. I got up made a strong coffee, and chewed on a deflatine, after about 20 mins and a visit to the wc I started to feel better, I was very close to phoning the hospital.

I started getting ready for the day, and put a face on and jewellery. Trying to find something that's picc friendly to wear too.

Spent the morning half watching my husband playing bowls. It was really nice to go in with him today as I haven't seen lots of the old farts that play in the men's over 60'. They are all so sweet though and most waved or came over to ask how things were going. Bless their hearts. I treated hubby to lunch today to save worrying about food later.

I arrived at the hospital at about 1.45 pm and by 2pm I had been weighed and given my first cup of tea. I mentioned about the bad tummy pain and the constipation, one nurse mentioned an African herbal tea that's fantastic but she didn't have any with her, I said has it got good stuff in it? A guy across the room asked what the tea was I told him and we are both debating trying it out. He recommended chia seeds too so I might add them to my diet too. It's so funny when your sat in a room with total strangers, and your all chatting about, poo, or lack of and farts Grinning it's great though as everyone has different hints and tips to try.

Everything went very smoothly for my last EC and I was finished by 4pm. Stopped for cuppa with my parents on the way home. Only had a light tea tonight of toast and marmite.

So far today I have drunk 1.5 lt water plus 6 mugs of tea, I have probably had enough fluids but will make sure I drink more plus take laxatives before I go to bed.

I will hopefully get a good night's sleep tonight, fingers crossed. Either way I'm still smiling. X

  • Glad you have got to the end of EC (well, at least it’s in, I know you have to get through the next 10 days or so - been there!). Assuming it’s Paclitaxel next, I hope you find that easier.

  • Thank you Coddfish, I am well prepared for my sense of taste disappearing again at the weekend. The things that's dragging me down is the trapped wind that seems to have appeared with the constipation this time.

I do have Paclitaxel next, so seeing I havevread lots have diarrhea with it Im hoping the constipation stops

  • I didn’t have diarrhoea with Paclitaxel although I did from time to time with EC. I found the best way to avoid constipation was to not use any antisickness medication other than what they gave me alongside the infusions. But that assumes you don’t feel sick - I never did. All the best.

  • I only take the apritant on chemo day and next 2 day and ondestatan for today and tomorrow', and Dexamethasone for 3 days, I have only taken about 4 of the other anti sickness over 3 seseions. Xx
