Well lastnight, I had the best sleep in the last 2 weeks, woke for a call of nature, but managed to get back off to sleep fairly quickly. I finally woke at 6.15am, so I just got up to get ready for my Second EC chemo session.
I got the hospital 2 hours early as hubby had a bowls match, and he dropped me on his way. It was nice as I went in and saw some of my old work colleagues who are also great friends. One of whom I worked with for well over 24 yrs, her daughter-in-law is a trained wig technician so she has offered to come and titivate my cheap Shien wigs for me, which is fantastic, I said we could have a little drink when they come out, mine will be extra little .
I still had time to kill, so I visited the Force Cancer Centre I dropped off some picc covers for their preloved box as they were slightly too big for me. I have just bought some tubi grip from Amazon it was just under £10 for 10 meters so will last me a long while and wont need washing if I dont want to. I had a coffee and a lovely chat with a couple ladies that came in for a yoga session.
I took my Aprepitant in preparation for my Chemo session. I walked back to the hospital and booked in about 11.45, I had just sat down in the waiting area about to watch TV, when a lovely little voice came out and called my name. I was shown to my chair, and after dumping my bag on the floor and putting my coat a bit neater, it was off to jump on the scales. I really hate that bit, as I put on weight after being diagnosed and I'm not allowed to lose it yet
I made myself comfy in the chair, I used my new neck pillow it was lush. After going through my name etc and how I been and what side effects I had. They gave me some mouth rinse to try and help, with the sore mouth, and said to ask GP for sleeping pills to try, but I dont really like them much. I had to wait a little while before they could start my infusion as there were 6 of us in the room and three needed starting and the others were already going so things need changing on those ppl to. I didn't mind I was chatting to my nurse and had a nice cup of coffee. Finally it was my time and I was flushed, and given all the prep fluids then the Red devil followed by the rest of the infusion and flushes. After a very pleasant afternoon chatting to nurses, and a lady sat next to me, I was all done and ready to go home at 2.30pm
We popped and got shopping on the way home, I have got more texture foods, Feta Cheese, dried Mango, marshmallows, hulahoops, banana & kiwi fruit.
As I ran my fingers through my hair in the car it was really coming out, so I dropped it out the car window, well my dream was dandelion blowing in the wind. I will wait until tomorrow then we will do the crew cut.
Ate a light dinner, have a slightly strange taste in my mouth this time which I can't remember from the first session, hopefully once I have a few more pees, it will go, in the mean time I sucking on boiled sweets.
I'm not feeling tired or drained so I will stay and watch TV with hubby this evening.
So that's it second session down, officially quater of the way through.
I will carry on as normal and update any side effects that I get again. I'm hoping it will be about the same as last time, fingers and toes crossed
Keep battling everyone we can do this. Xxx
