After feeling shattered lastnight I had a shower and went to bed, I was still awake when hubby came up to bed, just before 10pm. It was nice to have a snuggle before falling to sleep. I woke about 1.30 and went for a wee, and cuddled back in to my warm hubby, he was quietly sleeping so no wart hog to keep me awake this time. I slept again until about 3am, I'm trying a night without the aid of anything to make me sleepy. Finally get up at around 6am went to make a drink and sit infront on the TV again. I have started watching the Traitors it's a bit chappy, but when your sleep deprived, anything will do.
My mouth feels like its been coated with sudocrem yuck, my cup of tea tastes rank. I wake hubby at just before 9am, he's not been sleeping well either so, I leave him to rest. The district nurse should be here soon to change my dressing.
Hubby's being a love and cooking me some toast, with cherry jam, fingers crossed I can get more than just texture. Well breakfast was crunchy, sort of, I had a herbal tea but even that hasn't got any taste. Plus the chewing and swallowing felt strange at the back of my tounge.
Alice my district nurse came around 11am, she asked how I have been feeling and if my sleep has improved, I told her about still only sleeping if I take medications, also let her know about the constipation, and taste gone again. She checked my tongue to make sure I didn't have thrush, and asked if I was drinking enough fluids, and have I taken any laxatives. I told her I have but I'm going to take laxatives the day after chemo next time. I had my picc dressing changed, and Alice took some pictures as she was a bit concerned about a mark that was on my arm where the picc line comes out of my arm and attaches to the picc clip. She also asked if I was managing to get out, I said yes, we try to go for a walk most days. I would like to go and visit my parents but mum's too poorly, for me to risk catching her cold/cough.
We went for a walk, I felt like I was drunk while walking around. There was no way I could have gone out without the help and strong hands of my husband holding on to me.
Hubby has made me some lumpy mashed potatoes for my dinner, it was actually really nice and didn't leave a nasty taste in my mouth. I will have banana and think that will do for today.
I tried a digestive biscuit =yuck
Peeled apple = passable
Wotzits = yuck
Spaghetti hoops = just passable
Marshmallows = can taste sweet.
I had a boost tonight though as my brother and sister-in-law came around. I had a mini manicure, with the promise of a full manicure and pedicure next time
Injection done, laxatives taken.
I'm going to have a snuggle on the sofa with my wonderful husband for a while now.
Hope your all doing well and not suffering too bad. But if you havevany tips for loss ofbtaste please pass them on to me please xxx
