Friday 12 Jan Day 9 post first EC Last Filgrastim this session

3 minute read time.

Well I have started this a bit earlier today, as woke early and decided to get up.

Hubby came home yesterday, and we went to go for a walk, but managed about 400 yards in total. He's done something to his knee and if he trys to walk on it it keeps giving out. I couldn't risk him falling and me trying to catch him so 400yds is better than none I suppose. Hopefully we can get to the doctors today. We will be in real problems, if he can't walk, and help me, especially if I don't have such a good outcome to my second chemo next week.

My brother popped by with some birthday cake and oranges from my parents, plus a coat that was too big for me I had given to my mum thats is a better fit now especially over my picc line. While they were here, I had a shower and my sister-in-law spent ages drying my hair which was so much appreciated, still hardly any hair came out on the hairbrush which, I am finding strange.

We are off to speak with the oncologist today at 3pm, I suppose its to see how I am coping so far. Not doing bad, only had taste go for few days, it's back again now, sleep problems, and a bit of indigestion. The picc line still a bit uncomfortable so will mention that too.

We were planning on going shopping so that I could buy some more chunky loose arm cardigans and some  long sleeved shirts, but might have to put that on hold if hubby can't walk on his knee. I need help trying stuff on so can't leave him in the car. Maybe will ask sister-in-law to meet me next week, before my next session starts.

The birds are starting to wake so the sun will be up soon. I will leave my husband to sleep a little bit longer. I will carry this on when I get back from my appointment this evening.

I had a lovely delivery this morning from Little lifts, I was like a kid at Christmas emptying the contents from the box, all lovely things, and it did lift me when it arrived.

Had a very enjoyable day, hubby manage to see the Dr and he has something called  Meniscus tear, so needs to rest a bit and keep taking the tablets Sweat smile. We ordered a bracel so hopefully with a bit of support it might stabilise it a bit. We didn't go shopping in town but managed to do our food shop, went to Morrisons as close to Hospiral and I managed to get a shirt, new PJs and some harem pants all in the sales.

Got to the hospital and only had about 5 min wait at the most. The oncologist is really lovely and when she asked how I had been hubby chirped up, "just like this" Smiley she smiled and said "so your not going to shout at me then, phew," she was really pleased when I told her I haven't really suffered much at all, she did say the tiredness might get a bit worse, but she's happy for me to take either amitriptalyne or the Phenegran to help with nighttime sleep. I said about the loss of taste, but that I decided to eat different textures to make eating more enjoyable. She said that hopefully this will be a good idication that my next 3 EC should be like fingers crossed Fingers crossedI was told to remember to eat enough as she doesn't want me to lose any weight. I said am eating atleast 1600 calories and she was happy with that.

I showed her my picc line and she is going to suggest that they use a different dressing as that could be what's causing the irritation, plus the fact it's been changed several times since first inserted.

I said I was writing a blog on here and she was really pleased, when I said I wanted to put the positive things, I will put the negative too when it happens, but too often you only see the negative, she agreed with me. I even got a hug when we left.

Ate a huge dinner tonight chilli chicken salad and wraps, and yummy fresh pineapple, I could taste it all Grinning

It's my last Filgrastim injection tonight, yippedy doo dah!!! Well until next weekend but I'm a happy fully stuffed bunny at the moment.

I hope your all doing great and have a lovely evening/day

Sleep well xxx

  • I have my Chemo once a fortnight on a Thursday and I have the injections for 7 days(I do them about 6.30pm) starting on the saturday. Hopefully you can get district nurse for them, it isn't a very big needle. Make sure you drink plenty, tonight and for the next few days it helps with flushing your system. Xx
