not sure what I'm doing not very computer literate

Less than one minute read time.

My best friend was diagnosed with non small cell lung cancer stage 4 with bone secondaries. She has had radio therapy for the bone pain, but has not started chemo therapy yet.We are hoping to boost her immune system by improving her diet , which she started to do as soon as the diagnosis was made.I wonder if there is anyone out there who is in a similar position or has tried eating more fruit and veg and juicing. If I'm in the right place for others to view this blog would you be so kind as to give me your comments and or views. Thanks

    Hello,

The juicing is a great way to get the nutrients into her if you try searching on the internet I'm sure you will find lots of information and recipes.

Good luck in your search. x

Hello Lucy, I am a bit of a sceptic but as long as your friend eats a well balanced diet, keeps hydrated, lots of rest and get plenty of fresh air, she will be in a strong place to get through her treatment.  However, I know lots of mac friends swear by overload of good things, so, if it makes your friend feel more positive to do this, thats fine.  In any event, I wish her very well and you are a diamond friend.  Ann x

Hi there! My dad had the same illness, lung cancer with bone secondaries and we bought soup books and smoothie books to make healthy stuff for him to eat, which he liked. The Innocent smoothie book is good, as is The Soup Bible. Really, just keep her eating as healthily as possible, with lots of fresh fruit and veg and it'll stand her in the best stead for getting through chemo infection free. Best of luck, Vikki x

    Hi Lucy,

It's a standing joke with my partner & me that since my cancer diagnosis I've got through more fresh fruit & veg than in the whole of the preceding 15 years! Partly it was because, strangely, I just felt like eating everything that was coming into season (from March 2011, this was) and partly because friends & neighbours have been bringing us produce they've grown.

My partner makes brilliant stews stuffed full of veggies, and I've made cakes with nectarines, blueberries, plums & dates, which were yummy, as well as fresh soft fruit. I don't know whether it has boosted my immune system but it can't have hurt me - I got through surgery & a horrid chemo regime without physical problems (though emotionally it was a slightly different story) and all my blood tests were satisfactory. I can thorougly recommend fruit & veg, in whatever forms may be palatable to your friend. Go for it!

    Love & hugs,

    Annie  xxx
