What a week ... grandma still in hospital, has got chest drain out now and is looking much better although still very breathless. She is being assessed to come home and we're just waiting for them to get the oxygen sorted out for her first, hopefully she will be out of hospital on Monday. Not really sure what to expect because although the tumor is confined to her lung at the moment they can't operate or give chemotherapy due to underlying health problems (she has an aortic anurism and heart problems which were identified during tests to get the diagnosis). All that can be given is pain relief and perhaps one shot of radiotherapy if she gets tumor pain. Hospital are arranging for the district nurse and macmillan nurse to visit when she gets home. Family haven't told her extent of her condition but she's bright as a button and knows how much chemo etc I had so don't think it will be able to be kept from her for too long.
Have got my scan through for 9th December and have an appointment for the results on 23rd December.
Doctor signed me off on Monday and went back to work on Tuesday, just did 2 half days this week and exhausted. Having problems getting back on part time basis, am currently on a phased return but only have 4 to 6 weeks to get up to full time. Occupational health are supporting my request for part time working but manager says I need to get to full time until the recruitment process is complete. Don't think I can manage this so am looking at DDA guidelines as work for local authority and am sure they are a large enough employer to be able to sort this ... even if I have to transfer to something else. Have taken union and HR advice and asked for a rep to attend my meeting when this will be discussed but now feel like I'm back under a cloud for seeking representation. Oh well ... will see how it pans out ... waiting now for them to let me know what hours they want me to work next week.
