DLA

Less than one minute read time.
I applied for DLA in December 08 and was turned down, at this stage after having an official letter telling me that I wasn't eligible I would normally have accepted it and left it at that. However after participating in another post I received a message from another member on this site which thankfully gave me the hope and motivation that I needed to ask DWP to look at my claim again. I wrote a letter to them stating the symptoms of my condition and the side effects of treatment and how this impacted on me day to day and from this they wrote to my consultant asking for more information. As a result I have now been awarded the higher rate mobility component of DLA which is a going to be a massive help and is a huge weight of my mind and I just wanted to let others know to try again if you are turned in the first instance.

Good for you - I'm really pleased you appealed and have been awarded the higher rate.  I don't think they understand just how much the treatments can affect your life.

    Best wishes

good for you for sticking with what you knew you needed.  I applied for DLA last year because the cancer treatment meant I couldn't take medication for an existing condition in my feet and I just couldn't manage.  My GP practice decided to get involved and they actually sent off the claim for me in the end, so I felt very supported. Its meant I can keep my dog even though I can't walk her and since I live alone that has been hugely important to me,

I hope all continues to go well for you.

    love, Marly
