Decisions decisions......

1 minute read time.
Just been to my first follow up appointment after getting remission last month and saw my regular consultant. He went through my scan results again and although result is same that I am in remission the information was different. He told me that the CT scan still showed a mass in my chest (at last appointment I was told the lymph nodes were back to normal) but the PET scan had come back negative which showed the lymphoma was now inactive. He has had the meeting with the radiographer at Jimmys but a decision could not be made on whether I should have radiotherapy when looking at benefits versus side effects of the treatment. Sooooo..........consultant is making an appointment for me with radiographer and I will have to listen to what they have to say and then make the decision myself on whether to have it or not. One minute I am thinking that I should just take anything going to make sure it doesn't come back and the next that the risk of other cancers and extra breathing problems is too much if the treatment might not be needed. Maybe things will seem clearer once I actually speak to the radiographer.....hope so. On a positive note have had a busy week trying to get back on track and have been to dentist for checkup (everything OK :-)), started back at gym, just a bit of swimming and a half hour programme to get me back into it. I've been inactive for a long time now so was given quite an easy programme to start with and wasn't prepared for the ouchyness of my legs the next day! Hair is coming back slowly, have a bit of covering everywhere except at temples/front where there is just fine fluff, think I might have been a bit over optimistic last month when I booked into the hairdressers for 31 July lol! Patience has never been a virtue for me :-D Am going on holiday to Cornwall first 2 weeks in August and really looking forward to it, hopefully I will know where I am as far as radiotherapy goes by then.........and you never know a bit more hair to boot!
