Seemed ages since I last did a blog so decided to take a look, can't believe it was before Christmas, my world seems to have changed so much since then - for the better
I transferred into a new and less stressful job in January with regular part time hours and have seen a big improvement in my overall health, this in turn has helped me to increase my exercise.
Really can't believe the difference, if it wasn't for the colour of my hair (left it grey) and my routine appointments I don't think anyone would even guess the place I was in a couple of years ago. I have just been for my check up and the consultant confirmed that I am still in remission. I am still on 4 month reviews and am just starting to believe that I am getting my life back. Since February I have been able to do zumba classes which I love and am going to do race for life again this year but am going for a better time - last year I used a golfing brolly as a stick to help me get round - this year I am going to jog some of it. I still can't believe I can now do as much as I can without gasping for breath.
Prior to and while undergoing chemotherapy I could do very little, got out of breath just going to the bathroom and back which is not far as I live in a small bungalow. After chemotherapy when I first joined my local gym my VO2 max was 11 and at my last test in March it was 30. I think this is down to sorting work out as well as the gym but am definitely feeling the benefits now.
