A Lovely Afternoon

1 minute read time.
My mum and 6 year old niece came round to see me yesterday afternoon, niece is staying with my mum for a couple of weeks while some issues are sorted out with her mum. Anyway we had a great time and even ended up getting all my old jewellery making bits and pieces out and made her a necklace, she had taken a shine to a large turquoise heart shaped bead that I had. Its funny how many questions I found I had answered during the afternoon, really straight forward like why have you got that thing on your head, meaning my scarf, she was so inquisitive it was quite refreshing. I had bought a scarf on the internet that had gold threads and butterfly's on it, I haven't worn it yet as it's a bit thicker than my others and more difficult to tie, she had seen it a couple of days ago on a quick visit and mentioned that she liked that one. I got it out and she used it for a bit of dressing up play first as a cape around her neck and later on her head a bit like a veil with her elasticated necklace on top of her head to keep the scarf on and to be her tiara, she looked a proper little princess. Had a lovely chat with mum and enjoyed finding things for niece to play, though was difficult keeping up with her I had a really enjoyable afternoon - I was exhausted when they had gone but was happy and as a bonus I had a really good nights sleep, the best all week!

  • "Out of the mouths of babes..." Children are refreshing in their honesty and lack of embarrassment. Your niece sounds like a real sweety. It's nice to share positive experiences on here as well as using it as a place to share our woes. And you had the bonus of a good nights' sleep!

    All the best,

What a lovely day, children are so matter of fact aren't they.  I did laugh at the dressing up, my nephews now 12 and 14 used to out all sorts of things on their heads as little boys to mimic long hair like their older sister, tights trousers, scarves.  All three of them are quite artisitc musically and they would go prancing around the living room, and mimicing S club 7 with all the moves - very funny.  They are all older now but still make me roar with laughter - especially the hand dancing in the car when I am driving them.  Have you tried to drive when you have three adolescents in the car dancinf with their upper bodys and arms to Queens "Don't stop me Now" - hysterical.

Oh what woudl we do without them.

    Take care
