Radiotherapy

Less than one minute read time.

Hi guys

Radiotherapy starts tomorrow - 20 sessions over the next 4 weeks and then one session of brachytherapy on November 24th.  Hopefully the next week I will be on a plane back to New Jersey.

I am not too sure if I should change my diet immediately to the refined food list as recommended by the hospital or continue with my healthy eating and adopt a watch and wait attitude.  Any advice would be appreciated.

Also I feel a little concerned about the permanent side effects of radiotherapy. Has anyone had ongoing problems after radiotherapy?  Strange really - chemo didn't bother me as much as the radiotherapy.

Thanks for listening.

Lorraine

hope all goes well for you tomorrow - my friend started her radiothearapy on friday and said that it was fine - nothing to worry about at all - but she knows that it is her first session - but she really did say that it was ok - xoxo

Lorraine! Hi, me again!   Yes, better start on the refined foods asap.  It's the only way to go on pelvic RT. About a week after it starts, If you're eating  'healthy foods' like greens etc, you'll have even worse diarreah.   My friend drummed it into me before i began mine, even though I kept on saying 'but how can it be good for you' etc, because she had gone through it two years previously for her bowel cancer, and she was right.   She knew. It's best not to mess around with the diet the Radiologists suggest. They do know best!

Things like mashed potatos, white bread toast, nothing fried.  Hope you're ok.

I finish radio therapy tomorrow and can soon get back to healthy eating and make up for it all. roll on!

I'm worried about the permanent side effects too,but nothing has cropped up that seems permanent so far.  x fingers

    love xx
