shingles and r-chop treatment

1 minute read time.

Hi All

would have posted in chit chat on old site but here we go my first blog as I come to the end of my chemo treatment.

I have NHL LDBC and was due to have my last treatment of 8 R-CHOP's on Thursday coming, well I am guessing that won't happen now.  My bloods took a nose dive on Tuesday when I went for my regular check up after treatment, so its no suprise that I have ended up with shingles, but I have been really good throughout the treatment so am dissapointed I got this close to getting through with only the regular side effects.  A rash appeared last night but was not sure what it was as I have spent a large part of the last 2 days in bed with a bad back, well this morning the rash was worse and had moved round from my back to my chest. We new what it was but had to go to the out of hours clinic to have it confirmed. I now have to take an anti-biotic 5 times a day and they are bigger than the horse pills you get as part of the treatment.

So its a call to my specialist nurse on Monday to find out what happens now, if anyone has been in a similar position would love to hear what happened to you. How long was your treatment delayed for?

Well if the saying that things come in 3's is true I wonder what is lurking around the corner  LOL

To all the regulars I enjoy reading how you are all doing and hope all is well with everone this fine weekend, sods law for me to wreck all my plans but hey out there is someone much worse than me so I am not complaining, just very flustrated, where is that vent your anger forum ha ha

Hi John - so sorry to hear of this set-back when you were almost at the finishing post. I am surprised they gave you antibiotics as normally they treat shingles with anti-viarls - normally Acyclivir tablets which prevents the virus from duplicating itself and spreading ! Maybe the sores are infected though and that is why. Beware that shingles can persist for a long time and is renowned for making you feel rubbish - I am not trying to depress you but just so you can understand if it happens to you. I wish you well - take it easy - now is the time to relax and pamper yourself - you are nearly there with the treatment and you will get to the end before long. We are all right behind you cheering you on! Good luck, Love Jools xxxx
