Paperwork

Less than one minute read time.

At last I have written confirmation for Aug 20th - Wide Excision and SLNB. It's been a long time coming, and until I actual got the call - even though I'd been told I was listed, I was still nervous. But just to play with my mind a tiny bit more, the letter says "report at 7:30 a.m. - ring before leaving to make sure there is a bed". Well, all I can say is, there'd better be. I know it's a pro-forma letter, but do they really go as far as getting the operating theatre, the surgeon, the anaesthetist, and then not have a  bed? I'll bring my own, OK?

    Hi Jim,

You know what they say old Pal Lift up thy  bed and walk.

I would love to see their Faces if you phoned and they told you know beds available. Then You walked in with your bed tucked under your arm,and you said its alright I have my own thank you.

Take care and be safe Good luck for 20th.Sarsfield.

  • When I had my first lot of surgery I didn't have a bed! I was stuck in a room and reassured there would be a bed when I came back from surgery. Doesn't exactly fill you with confidence, does it?

Hope they find you a nice cosy, comfy bed!

Had a word with the surgeon's team - not had a bed problem yet, but they do it in case there's a big emergency and they need the beds for that ... why don't they explain that in the letter? There's so much in the NHS that could be improved soooo easily with a bit of thought - and awareness...
