Chemo nurses are absolutely fantastic! With the problems with drawing blood yesterday I was filled with trepidation at the thought of chemo. The cold I was developing hasn’t progress too much so I was fairly confident the bloods would be fine. I always arrive early, I cannot stand being late or even just on time I have to get anywhere with plenty of time to spare. And of course, for the first time the clinic was running very late, which didn’t help my stress levels and all the veins in my hand decided to burrow themselves as deeply as possible, I think they were trying to burrow to Australia. All the chemo nurses know I have a needle phobia, and do take their utmost care to calm me and insert the needle with the minimum of pain and the nurse I had was fantastic. The first attempt failed, the vein just wouldn’t co-operate. Now had I been able I would at that stage gone home but of course that isn’t an option is it? So out came the hot packs again and we waited and waited. After what seemed like an absolute age in she went. Yes it was a little more painful that usual but she succeeded and then it was a piece of cake. Now I have just one more cycle to go!!!!!!
