  • Hi Janelou,

I blame everything (including global warming) on Tamoxifen! No, seriously... I have had problems first with Letrozole and now with Tamoxifen. The one symptom I can absolutely attribute to Tamoxifen is vaginal dryness and an upset in the whole 'eco-system' down below which has resulted in a form of thrush which has been almost impossible to shift. I am currently being treated by a gynecologist to try and sort this out. Yes, I do feel tired and find my 'get-up-and-go' has got up and left! Of course this could be caused by other things - your whole body has been through the wringer and a reaction now to what has happened could be exhaustion caused by all the stress. The upside is that Tamoxifen is an important line of defence in stopping the cancer from returning... so it is a price we have to pay.

There are several threads on the site which have dealt with the subject of Tamoxifen so if you want to read these type the word Tamoxifen into the SEARCH box at the top of the page - it acts like a search on Google.

    Good luck,

Hi, Although I'm not on Tamoxifen, I'm on a chemo drug called Temodar, and I've definitely noticed a pattern with my moods. On days 4 - 5 out of 28 day cycle, I feel so low it's untrue. Then by day 6 - 7 it lifts and I'm ok again. I've spoken to Oncologists about it and they just sort of shrug and say they haven't heard of this particularly, but thought I'd let you know you're not alone!  Jeanie x

I take Tamoxifen and am pleased to say, I can't think of any noticeable side effects, that couldn't also be attributed to being menopausal (I am 50)

I would speak to your GP or Oncologist about this, they may be able to help you with how you feel or find a drug that doesnt make you feel so rough if thats the reason for it.

I did feel very fed up,  hugely tired etc after surgery and Radiotherapy, and assumed it was this and the drugs making me feel so lousy. It turned out however I was Diabetic instead hence the tiredness!

Hope you feel much better soon

    xx
