1st Chemo

Less than one minute read time.

I have to have ECX chemo with three cycles.  The first cycle was tough - much harder than I expected.  The first two days were ok then three days when all I could do was lie in bed and wait for it to pass. Nausea was bearable thanks to the meds. Eating little and often helped and eating Rich Tea biscuits and Polo mints!  The CNS was great and advised me to stop the Capecitabine for a couple of days to let my body recover

After a week I started to feel better and was able to have a walk every day.

Emotionally it was hard and I found the Headspace app really helped.  There’s a great unit on Coping with Cancer. I listened to this to help me deal with the inevitable emotions that cancer brings

This Forum was an invaluable support especially at 3 a.m. when sleep was proving impossible.  There are so many lovely people who are going through treatment with incredible courage.

Will see what the oncologist says next week when I go for the second cycle.  It is very hard to put yourself again but it’s another step forward on this journey!
