Now bearing in mind 3 years earlier samples of my lung were sent off to a pathologist in Dublin because they were confusing and that turned out to be lung cancer, set alarm bells ringing but still pushed it to the back of my mind. I found out Christmas Eve it was definitely a cancer measuring 4cm. Not the best Christmas present I have received :) They finished the job they started in January and as I said before am now awaiting RAI.
In some respects I feel this path has been rockier than with the lung cancer journey. That trip had a detailed itinerary, I was made aware of the people I would meet, what stops I needed and had a timetable to check. With the thyroid it feels like I have been given an open ticket and I am a little unsure where to disembark.
Finally a little thought, how many of us were actually aware that the thyroid existed or even the importance of it's existence? If we put it into perspective this little thing called the thyroid is actually a major organ that helps to keep our bodies balanced and personally I think it deserves a little more respect than it actually receives.
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
