I'm not in a "Fun" mood any mote

Less than one minute read time.

Hi,My wife Mavis aged 71has been diagnosed with incurable lung cancer and the hospital has put her on a drug to help her though the next few months, also the form they are sending has a "Special Rules" box that she has to Tick. Mavis fought Bowal Cancer and Won but the lung operation did not completely remove all the cells ,

As I'm 76 and recently lost my Blue parking badge (New Hip ) where does that leave us with the situation off having to attend the hospital every two weeks and its a hour by car (11 year old Golf) or two buses away its even longer and getting there on time is near impossible.

I will not post any more "Fun" stuff on my Group "Laughter is the best Medicine" and I will change my Logo when I find how to do it.

Thank you fr caring

Luv

  •  Hi Mick,

I am sorry that you have experienced this . I would agree that you should look into seeing if your wife qualifies but seek someone to help you . I understand how difficult and let down you feel by the system.

It was my "joy" to assess for the old orange badge scheme which came under my duties as an occupational therapist. I hated it as the clinic was full of people with minor conditions with complete disregard for real people in need. However when my mum initially a stage4   patient  would not apply under the special rules as she felt it contained a negative association so she did not qualify automatically but I thought it was clear her mobility was compromised particularly the twelve hours after infusion. We applied twice and never even heard back but cashed our checks!! We would ave welcomed a parking permit for the infusion period only as she required to be transferred by a wheelchair into the car but could walk the next day. I had to get someone to sit in the car and two to transfer.

My dad did not qualify after his stroke and the hospital parking was so bad I went round for an hour and had to send him into his appointment on his own and he could not tell me what went on when he came out!!

I agree the system needed changed but now it feels difficult to access and preventing the people who are trying to remain independent from doing so . The whole point of the system. Politicians move council systems quicker than anyone else does so if I was you I would ask for representation.
