Can R-CVP chemo cause eyesight problems.

Less than one minute read time.

Hi everyone

I finished my chemo on Hogmany and started on maintenance therapy in March. I have noticed a deterioration in my eyesight, blurred vision when reading. My friend in Canada who is also going through chemo told me his Oncologist mentioned this was a possible side effect. Anyone any ideas or experiencing the same?

    hi..

before i started off on chemo i didnt need to wear glasses..i would say my eyes were perfect and i could spot a penny on the floor from miles away...

my first lot of chemo was r-cvp.....but without the retuximab so it was c-v-p.....had 5 doses..

also have had chop chemo and r-dhap chemo..

over the last two years my eye sight has got bad close up...iv had to change the strength of my reading glasses 3 times,,my latest pair i pick up on wednesday so that will be the 4th change and yes there a bit stronger then the last pair..

i can still see things in the distance....but i cant make out the words in a book / newspaper under my nose...

i am sure it must be the chemo i have had....doc and pecialist say that could be the case....though i have also been told its an age thing....which i dont believe..

not had any chemo for 7 months....apart from the retuximab top up every 8 weeks....now every 12 weeks..

i am sure its the chemo that has done my close sight in....the more chemo doses iv had....the worse my sight has got...

of course it could be just an age thing like a coupe of people have said....but i dont think it is..

hopefully things will go fine for you and your sight wont get any worse..

have a chat with your specialist maybe..

    Hi,

I had 6 cycles of rcvp finishing in February. this year As I am now 68 I should expect my sight to be failing. The surprise was to be told I had cateracts on both eyes so things look hazy. They do not want to operate yet, so close to treatment . Not sure if this helps but it is my experience. I was warned that chemo affects every cell in the body but does wonderful things along the way.Hoping your problem is temporary Best Wishes camio

    Hi,

I haven't had R-CVP but have had three different chemos. My oncologist also warned me that my eyesight could be affected bu the chemo.

My eyesight is definitely fuzzier but did improve slightly when I had a three month break from chemo.
