It turns out the oncologist is away this week so I know that it won't be until next week at the earliest. My very helpful nurse contact is going to check that the referral has been made correctly in the absence of any direct communication from anyone involved in sorting out my radiotherapy. Of course I just want to get on with it as soon as possible - or at the very least to have an idea of dates with (school) holidays coming up.
I am still very early in my journey - but my tip would be to keep asking the questions and to not always wait for them to get in touch with you. Knowing the oncologist is away and therefore I won't see him for at least a week, is easier than wondering each day whether I'm going to be contacted and invited in at the drop of a hat. It's not as though I'm hassling all the time but if I've not heard anything in what I think is a sensible timescale then I'm on the blower!
In the meantime, we continue to try and make the most of weekends - yesterday going to an open farm in the baking heat (but eerily quiet due to the footie). The girls loved it - and it is great to see their excitement at seeing the animals, stroking the rabbits, P helping S on the swings and in the bouncy castle, etc.
