Radiotherapy

1 minute read time.

Radiotherapy hasn't been to bad so far. The travelling up and down everyday is a bit annoying, specially as the treatment lasts about 10 minutes at most and it takes over hour there and back. I've heard it makes you relly tired, but I was ok over the weekend, so i think it may be the travelling and the staying up reading making me tired!

There is a wee boy getting radiotherapy at the same time as me though, he's no older than 10. He's in a wheelchair, I assume because he is so weak  and has a feeding tube in his nose. It breaks my heart, I don't understand cancer at all. Like, it blows my mind. No child should ever, ever have to go through this. No parents should have to watch that happen to their little boy who should be out playing. I'm a Christian and I do believe God will look after him, but it can be so hard to understand why there is so much pain in the world. Why is this happening? I gues you it makes you appreciate the small things so much more. More than you would believe. You see beauty in more things, because you actualy make time to look. It's a shame cancer has to be reason for this to happen though.  I like to believe that this little boy will beat this and go on to live a long and happy life, with this behind him, and he'll be able to live a life appreciating everything that happens to him much more than any of his peers.

I see this boy and it just re-inforces my determination to beat this and get my nursing degree and be able to help. I can't sit here doing nothing when I know what its like. So that is my drive to get throgh this. That is why this happening in my life, so I can relate and make a (small) difference. Hopefully.

Hope you are all well. I anyone has any questions about my treatment etc, please don't hesitate to ask .

I found that having having r/t made me more appreciative of the world around me.

During my seven and half week at the Brighton Cancer Center I met and talked to so many wonderful people suffering from all types of cancer and all stages of the decease.

Each ten minute session took a the whole of the morning and part of the afternoon due to the distance I had to travel

Like you I resolved to try and make a difference in other peoples lives.

When the r/t treatment finished I actually missed it because of the people I met.

My r/t finished just over a year ago. and even though I am still three monthly injections to deter the cancer coming back it appears so far to have done the trick.

With you attitude, you will no doubt beat your cancer and achieve your objectives in life
