Today I had a CT scan, I drove myself to Burton hospital for this.
They didn’t give me any results, I wasn’t expecting them to.
I will be having another CT scan during or after my chemo treatment, so they have before and after results to compare.

Chemo Round 4 Week 1
Today I drove myself to Burton hospital, for my round chemo treatment, this is the first week. So, chemo all day.
I was allowed to use my night bag, which I attached to my urostomy bag. This made things a lot easier for me.
This was an all day treatment. At the end of the treatment I was given 5 injections to take home, one per day from monday till friday.
I was also given my tablets to take at home.

Chemo Round 4 Week 2
This is my short chemo day.
Last week I was a little constipated, it only lasted for a few days. I took some tablets to help, which worked.
I drove myself to Burton hospital.
I was in and out in no time, time just seemed to fly by. Maybe watching films played a part in that.
The rest of the week I was fine. I am now off until the 5th Feb 2021, apart from that I’m due a blood test on the 2nd Feb 2021, this is booked for Tuesday, as I’m due a telephone appointment with my consultant Dr Szita on the 3rd Feb 2021.
03/02/2021
I’m at home feeling fine. I received my phone call from Dr Szita’s staff. She tells me my blood test results show my white blood cell count is too low for chemo, I would have to have another blood test on the following Friday, before my chemo, to ensure my blood count meets the criteria.

Chemo Round 5 Week 1 (Cancelled)
It’s now Friday. I drove myself to Burton hospital, looking forward to a quick blood test, then all day chemo, which sounds weird when I say it like that. I’m looking forward to it because it’s another chemo day I can tick off. After having the blood test, I’m advised that my blood count is even lower than the test results from my last blood test, so I’m not able to have chemo today. Instead, my chemo is postponed for a week.
My next blood test will be Wednesday 10th Feb 2021, I will also see Dr Szita the same day, hopefully my blood test results will be better by then.

Chemo Round 5 Week 1 (2nd time lucky)
Today is my big chemo day, so this is round 4 week 1. I'm feeling confident today that things are going to go to plan.
Yesterday I received a phone call from the chemo department, advising me not to take my last injection, which is used to boost my immune system, as my blood count would be too high for treatment.
I drove myself to Burton hospital, booked myself in. Not long afterwards, I was on the chemo ward, having treatment.
For the rest of the week, I was knocked about a little, which is normal, nothing major, felt a little tired at times, etc.
But I know this will wear off and I will feel better.

Chemo Round 5 Week 2
Today is a short chemo day.
I had my blood test yesterday, I didn't hear anything, so I’m hoping things are going to go to plan. I really don’t want any more setbacks, but if I’m not well enough for treatment, then I’ll have to wait until I’m up to it.
As it went, my blood count was fine, I had my treatment, that’s another step forward.

Chemo Round 6 Week 1
Today is my last big day of chemo. I had my blood test yesterday. I’ve also had covid vaccine on the 1st March 2021, my 1st covid jab.
I had to have my covid vaccine 3-4 days before the start of my chemo treatment, as my immune system would have been too low before. I was hoping and praying that my blood results would be ok for my chemo treatment the week before, otherwise, this would delay my treatment. As it was, it worked out for the best and went to plan.<>br I’m now looking forward to next week, my last chemo day, it will be a short one, then no more chemo.

Chemo Round 6 Week 2
Today is my last chemo day. In a strange way, I’m excited about this, I know this will knock me down a bit, but nothing major, as I seem to tolerate the treatment. I feel I’m on the right road to recovery.
I drove myself to Burton hospital. I was soon on the chemo ward having my last chemo treatment, the time went past so fast.
It’s now a case of regular CT scans and blood tests, I’m not sure, but I think this will be once a month, for the 1st year.
I believe this will continue for 5-6 years, until I get the all clear.
As each year passes, I will have fewer blood tests and CT scans.
My consultant has told me, there is a 50% chance of the cancer returning, I’m staying positive, I believe I’m going to be on the right side of the 50%, only time will tell.
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
