fast deterioration.....

1 minute read time.

Hello everyone it's been a while since I wrote a blog here as we've been super busy taking dad on trips and making lots of memories.

so to update Dad in the last month has really deteriorated especially with fatigue. He tried to stain there out door seating set the other day and only got quarter of a chair done and had to stop. He's sleeping alot now and getting shaking in his arms and legs alot. I am coping better at the minute and trying to enjoy the little things but I find it so hard to watch him shuffle around and get so tired. Mum and I recently planted a lovely cottage garden for him so he could sit and enjoy the smells and beautiful flowers. His confusion has worsened alot and memory but we just play it down. We have however noticed his long term memory is still great! He gets nausea ever day now always before 12 pms and headaches not everyday but the ones he gets are very painful. Hes still only on 3mg of steroids he was on 4mg but mum dwcided to reduce it as his weight has ballooned.  He's very swollen in the face and tummy. hope everyone is coping ok. Hannah

Hi Hannah. Had been wondering how things were going for you all in Nelson. It sounds like you have at least had some reasonable  days with your Dad if you have been able to take trips which is great. I hope he continues to have some good days. Tom just finished his last chemo last night ie the final 5/23. He is quite good at the moment. We are having our first MRI since the post op one on Dec 16th.  I think your Dad was quite good at that stage. So sorry that he is deteriorating more quickly now. The steroids do cause that moon face and big tummy but if they are helping control any brain swelling at least Dad will be more comfortable. I hope you and Mum are looking after each other. You both need to stay well - it's a tough time. All the very best Jan.

Hi Lily thank you hun I often think about how you are to. How are things?

And hi Jan we have had some lovely days we took dad on a fishing charter we just took his wee fold out chair so he could sit as he struggled with fatigue alot now. I'll add a wee photo. I'm so glad to hear all is going ok with you at the minute and I really hope you get fantastic news from the MRI. It's a long exhausting journey of ups and downs ae. And yes I'm thankful they have medicine to keep dad comfortable as that would be awful.  And mum and I are so close. We are very straight with each other when we're doing to much...I told mum the other day that she isn't super human and can take on everything herself else she will get sick and run down and the next dday dear of her came down with vertigo enough to tell her she needs to focus on the little things and not doing everything for everyone and running herself flat...I now see where I get it from haha. I hope you are coping well and staying well. Xx hannah
