dogs are nice its the owners

1 minute read time.

Hi peeps

Just thought i would vent my anger here as maybe this will help me?? Anyway took the dogs for walkies tonight , and this woman said 'ooooh get your dogs away they look dangerous' anyway my dogs are the most docile creatures ever and have been my life saver for my sanity. I had a bang on my door tonight and this man slapped a notice in my hand which he had downloaded of the internet about the dangerous dogs act 1871 and told me he was a policeman and worked for windsor great park, and that my dogs were dangerous and his wife followed me home! Apparently he is trying to say my dogs mauled his son and his dog , he has had his dog a week and is still on a lead, anyway over the park on saturday, and again tonight his wife said that my dogs committed a crime and that he was a policeman and had the right to lecture me about my dogs.  In my defence I was in shropshire till monday with the dogs! and secondly his wife (i think) said as they were walking said 'go away' get your dogs  away' they should be on a lead! In my defence my dogs are well behaved and would never have mauled her dog, she was afraid because of the size of him (neo masif 12 stn dog) and a staff which have a bad reputaion anyway and people assume the worst, can they not get it through there thick heads that it is the owner that influences the dogs. Anyway the bloke said he's not  sure if it was my dogs afterall but the principle is he came round spouting his mouth off before he actually knew the facts and it just shows you all this unecessary shit caused me to have a massive nose bleed and feel pissed off.  Thats my rant thnx for listening. x

Get him for threatening behaviour & slander, he has pretty much stalked you. Personally I'd have set my dog on him in self defence - wouldn't really, but the though is nice.

Aww Jilly, I will put my hand up and say I am nervous of big dogs and I've had dogs all my life, I have two border terrorists (sorry terriers) at the moment.

I do agree that circumstance and ownership directly affect a dog's behaviour, owners do know their dogs best and if they are well behaved they should be allowed to run free in the park and burn off energy no matter their size............. but when you see a huge hulking dog come running towards you, you never know if they are going to stop, bowl you over, lick or bite you!  (same for any size really but somehow bigger dogs are scarier!).

So I see both sides, what I don't see is how people start moaning before anything has happened,

I had a man tell me my puppy should be on a lead on a beach a few weeks back.  We were visiting my parents and took our dogs to the area of the beach specifically where dog walking is allowed......why did the man take his toddler to this part if he is scared of dogs??? My dog was only 3 months old, OK very jumpy and licky and attention seeking and I felt bad that the little boy was so obviously scared stiff.....but HELLOOOOOO no my dog didn't need to be on a lead.  Bit my tongue tho ;)

However, to have someone follow you home.......THATS NOT RIGHT and who cares if he is a policeman that doesn't give him any extra rights!!!!!  Slap them back like the others said for invasion of privacy, stalking and threatening behaviour.

Ohhhhh its got me all riled up now LOL

    Debs xx

I would certainly report him to the IPCC Jilly, it's one thing banging on your door when he's in uniform (if indeed he is a PC) it's a completely different thing following you home.  And it is so true that it's the owners at fault, I remember when staffies were cute little things.. and they still are to an extent, but coupled with a hoody with intent to cause mayhem, perhaps not so cute!

  • I'm sorry you have had such a nasty experience and I hope you won't have any more trouble from these creeps. I used to own a boarding kennels and am very much a dog lover. In my experiences at the kennels it was always the little dogs who bit chunks out of me! Big dogs tended to lick me to death or lean on me until I fell over but I was always very cautious when putting a lead on a little dog. Oh yes, and once bitten, twice shy... dogs who bit me were not invited out for a walk a second time.

We used to nick-name dog owners as 'the nutters' and 'the creeps'. The nutters (and I count myself as one of these) were madly in love with their dogs, the creeps were nasty s*ds who kicked and mistreated their dogs or abandoned them at our kennels. It sounds as if you have unfortunately met two 'creeps'.

    Best wishes,
