Results were today...

Less than one minute read time.

Firstly, thanks to those for the lovely comments on my last blog :)

Now for the results...........

The tumours in my chest and neck have 'only' grown slightly.
The one under my arm has grown a little more, and it now 2.5cm.

I've been waiting for test results to check for a 'cell marker' called CD25. I've found out today that I have this cell, which means I have been accepted onto a trial at The Royal Free Hospital in Hampstead - which is along way from us!
I will be having a treatment called Basiliximab - which is like radiotherapy, but administered through a drip, and only attacks the 'CD25' cell marker, so won't damage other cells (Hope this makes sense!).

I will be in hospital for about a week, and stuck in a room as I will be radioactive!

In the mean time my fertility results are next Monday.

Also, today they have taken my Hickman line out.
It's not been used since August, and is just an infection risk!
They have to cut part of it out, so i've come home nursing 2 stitches, and the local anasthetic is wearing off, and it's rather tender!!!

The Royal Free is a really good hospital for trials (bit old and tatty building but really good, up to the minute science).  I have Scleroderma (bit like Lupus) and have participated in several trials at the Royal Free and they are my 'main' primary disease hospital for Scleroderma.  We live on the Herefordshire/Gloucestershire border and I travel down there as I have every confidence in them.

For my lung cancer, I am under the Royal Brompton, again in London, but they are the best in my opinion and worth the travel.  I am having an op down there on 16th Dec, miles away from my family and friends for Christmas probably, unless I can make a good recovery and sneak out on Christmas Eve!

I really hope the treatment works for you and wish you all the very best.  Sorry about the Hickman line - ouch!xx

    Thanks Woozle!

Good to hear something nice about the hospital!

We're up in Lancashire, so my family will be able to take me there, but not stay, because of work commitments etc!

Good luck for your operation on the 16th!

    Hey Hevvur,

From reading ur blog it felt a little like De Ja Vu because it sounds very similar to what i'm goin thru. I'm also a 26 yr old female with Hodgkins. Mine is only the first time but i have been having treatment for over a year and so far nothing has got rid of it. However I have just found out that my cells have the CD25 marker and that i'm a match for the trial. I haven't been told much about it at the moment, I'm waiting for a call from Dr Macnamara at the Royal Free but my consultant seems to think it would be a good idea for me to go if i can.

It's quite a way for me also as i live in Leeds! It really does sound like ur goin thru it, i hope u have some good support, sounds like u do. If u wanna chat or discuss anything, then please drop me a message.

    Hope is out there,

    Emma
