It's back!

Less than one minute read time.

Yesterday I was told that my breast cancer had spread to my liver. Surgery is not an option, so chemo is all that they can do! Unless some of you know otherwise?! Research is a bit conflicting about the prognosis, my GP wouldn't be drawn on it. So I don't know if I am dying or whether we can contain it!

Helen, really sorry to hear your news.  Go back to your consultant and ask him everything u want to know.  GP's are good but they are not the specialists.  Be positive, keep going. never give up.

    Hi Helen

One of the reasons the doctors can't give prognosis is because everyone is so different.  I was diagnosed with secondary breast cancer in my liver in April this year, soon after with bone mets which are all over my body, most painfully in my ribs, spine and shoulders, and some spots of cancer in my lungs. I won't put too much detail here as you can see more in my profile, and blogs, but the good news is that a CT scan this week has shown that bone and lungs are improving and the largest liver tumour has halved in size.  My advice is to enjoy everything you can, and get all the info and support you can.

    love Sue

Thank you all for your supportive comments, I did go back to the oncologist last week, I am due to start my chemo and herceptin combination on 3rd Nov. My veins are completely trashed, so a hickman line is being fitted next wednesday :(

The oncologist was straight about my prognosis, but as I am in positive mode, I am not going to say it here!

    Love Helen

  • Hi, I've been told following my ultrasound that I have multiple lesions on my liver, I'm having a CT scan on Monday and biopsies on 29th. It's comforting to know that it's not necessarily a terminal diagnosis. Do you know if my biopsy will be under general anesthesia, I have a pre op assessment on Tuesday so I think it maybe?
