Eating normally

Less than one minute read time.

My husband finds it difficult to eat normal food after having chemoradiotherapy for head and neck cancer.  It's now six months since his gastro tube was removed and is struggling.  Can anyone give him an idea of how long this will last.  His mouth is dry all the time also

thank you

    Hello Mois.

Sorry to hear your husband is still struggling to eat. Recovery does vary from patient to patient. I had similar treatment in 2013 and it did take several months for my eating to improve.

Have you found our Head & Neck group on the site? We often have discussions about food ideas, and tips to help a dry mouth, which you might find useful.

You also mentioned mucus problems on your blog heading. The mucus was a problem for me and I didn't sleep well because of it. It does subside over time. Again this is something you could chat to the group about as I know several of us have struggled with mucus.

Hi Mois, It sounds like you are really concerned about your husband. It might be a good idea to ask this question in the Carers only forum (Group) group, or call our Macmillan support line and speak to a cancer information specialist. The number is 0808 808 0000 and lines are open 9-8, Mon-Fri.
