Good Recovery Continues (Habubrat)

1 minute read time.
Hi All! I'm recovering well from the long drive and still unpacking. I hate unpacking! But I wanted you to know that Dave is making quick and remarkable recovery everyday. They told us once they stopped the growth factor shots, his stem cells would begin to become red blood cells and that the lack of them was the reason for the fatigue. That he would feel noticeably better each and every day, and this has proven to be accurate. So he has been working full days all week, though still sleeping a lot when he's home. But he is upbeat, enjoying his parents visit and being home. I have had to hit the ground running with doc appointments to make here and we have already set up our return trip in a month. We have to go back for about a week for 4 more days of chemo, but we can go home to recover. Then back out in April for the 2nd transplant, which we were told is better tolerated than the first, and they have no idea why that is. So when we do that, we most likely won't have to stay the whole 3 weeks because he did so well with the first one. Since they fixed his compression fracture before we left he has had no pain in his ribs and his back is doing better everyday from the soreness of the surgery, but no more of the toothache pain or spasms he was feeling. He is tapering down more aggressively now on his pain meds and is looking forward to being off them entirely by a month's time. We met our new neighbors who moved in while we were gone and they are delightful. My neighbors who took care of the house have all stopped by and been just incredibly good neighbors, looking out for the house and caring for the yard. There are wonderful bright spots in our lives. Best, Lori
