mum of three

1 minute read time.
I am a 52 year old mother of three who got diagnosed with breast cancer in June 2005, i underwent all the necessary treatment for this, chemo, radiotherapy etc... Within 18 months it was found to be secondary cancer in the spine and also in the liver, i found it very traumatic to deal with after everything i had previously been through, and my daughter, two sons and husband also found it to be a blow. But i remained my fighting spirit and decided i would not let it beat me, as i have so much to live for and so many people to live for! So i underwent the necessary treatment for that as well, and have kept up to scratch on my daily medication to keep the pain that i get in my legs and buttocks, due to where the cancer is pressing on the nerves in that area at bay. I do very well considering my circumstances, despite it being a struggle at times, i never lose will to carry on, i find generally that by maintaining my medication for pain relief, it doesn't seem to be as bad. I am also pleased with what my oncologist tells me when i attend my appointments with him, which is that the cells in my liver are shrinking which is a massive relief to hear! I just want to know of anyone else in the same situation as me out there, and that i am hear to talk to about anything regarding any sort of condition like me, and that i would find it very comforting to hear from people who share my boat, as i havn't really got anyone close to me who knows exactly what i have went through and am going through, so please feel free to respond to this blog, as it would be very much appreciated. regards, Florence.

Welcome to the 'club'! Thank you for sharing your journey with us. It certainly is a wonderful site to share our feelings and have a laugh too. I will be 52 this year and have 2 daughters and a husband but we don't all live together. For various reasons we are spread out from Lincoln/Essex/Cardiff and Somerset and I am living on my own at the moment.  I was diagnosed with malignant melanoma back in August and have had surgery/plastic surgery/sentinal node biopsy and recently had another biopsy because of another 'suspect' mole somewhere else!

I'm glad that you have your pain relief under control and as you say it must be a big relief that your liver seems to be doing well.  As much as we have the support of loved ones and friends they can't possibly know what it is we are going through so it's wonderful to be able to come here and talk to others going through the same feelings etc.  i'm sure other members will be along soon to say hi.  Sending you a big hug.

    Take care

Hi I am new to all this.

I had a very small E+ lump taken out on Jan 5th this year and now they tell me I need Radio Therapy for 4 weeks at 5 times a week plus Tamoxifen for 5 years after that : as a preventative treatment in case it returns but i can't find any concrete proof that it won't come back with or without this treatment.

They also say that some of my lung will be affected = scared.

I have been told that now I am clear and yet they still want to do all this to me.

I can't make up my mind whether to go ahead or not ?

It seems to me that RT causes cancer as well as killing it.

I was on HRT for many years after a hystorectomy in 1980 = I am now 68yrs old.

I feel I might take the alternative treatments ie herbs and acupuncture instead = has anyone got any good thoughts about that

good luck and god bless from carole
