a newbee being a bit daft

Less than one minute read time.
this is the first time that i have done any thing like this and I had surgery over a year ago so have never written about what i call my problem. Thought that there was no one else that had vulva cancer as my dr told me it would be difficult to find someone to talk to about it. At the time it really didnt matter as there was this cancer that needed dealing with. After reading some of the things on the site mine seems very small but as daft as this sounds in my world its a pretty big thing and how brave you all are. When I say no one to talk to I dont mean Dr or nurses but some one who has all ready had the op and most likely know what this is trying to say

Hi Eileen.  I'm a caregiver, my husband has Myeloma.  But I had a dear, dear friend with such cancer.  Very rare. She didn't make it but put up a good fight, she was 47 or 48 when she passed.  It was hard for her and all of us.  The surgery for her was pretty invasive and then the chemo and stuff.  What I think you will find on this site is that regardless of the caner you have you are now and forever part of the "Cancer Club".  Its members come in all shapes, sizes, ages, genders and races and we all share one thing in common.  We are forever changed.  Whether there is anybody here that has your particular form of cancer or not, you will find new and wonderful friends that you can talk openly about any and all things with out fear of being shunned or embarrassed.  When your friends lose interest, the people here won't.  So explore the site and make some new friends.  Stay strong.  Best, Lori

Hi Eileen, my wonderful Mum is suffering so badly since her radical vulvectomy operation.

She has been in hospital since 8th Nov 2011 due to infection, sepage, slough buildup etc....

The cancer had not reached the nodes & it has been confirmed from petrie growths that radiotherapy plus the surgery has eradicated the cancer.

I really need to know from you the methods that the doctors/surgeons used to heal the area.

Mum is a very strong character & has a pain threshold to match but I have never seen her suffer so much. Because she has been in hospital so long she has become weak & lost weight not to mention become fetially impacted on more then one occasion.

Vulval cancer in not widely known about. The District Nurses & the nursing staff at her hospital have never seen it before.

You do not need to feel embarrassed or hold back on anything. I am not scared & see the area as my sister & I care for her.

    Thank you

    Louise
