Dad got his new suite, and a couple or so hours later had his first and hopefully last seizure. I can honestly say that it is the single most scary thing that has ever happened to me and I thought I'd watched him take his last breath in the most painful way possible. Now I know what it was I'm hoping that I'll be more prepared for it if it happens again.
In the order that I remember it...
Afterwards he talked gibberish, was extremely agitated and wouldn't be touched or persuaded to do anything. It took about half an hour to get him in to the ambulance and was generally like the world was out to get him.
I'm not writing this to complain or moan. I'm writing this because I didn't know. For the next 12 hours I thought my Dad had died and come back again. There were so many signs on the run up to it, and a lot of hurtful behaviour after it. 48 hours later having spent most of it together we're stronger than ever. Done a lot of talking, had a great day yesterday after he got out, went and bought a new washing machine!
The best news of all is that we went to the Christie and they were happy for him to start his next round, and comparing the CAT scan he had while he was admitted overnight.....the tumour has SHRUNK!! Only a little but at month 4 that's ok, there's two more treatments to go after this one.
