Things thyr shouldn't say!!!

Less than one minute read time.
We all know that people dont really know what to say to a cancer patient but I think there are some things that should be avoided!!! 1- How r u? I always wanted to say, bloody awfull, but that makes them feel bad. 2-You'll get thru this! Well, I hope so!!! Have no plans to do otherwise. 3- You r so strong! Do I have a choice???? 4- I couldnt cope as well as you!! (my fav) Actually i am not coping, i want to scream, cry and punch something but i was never given a choice so i just have to or face going totally insane!!!!! 5- r u ok? No i bloody well am not, i have cancer, how the hell do u think i could be ok with that!!! I am sure there are many others that we all get sick of, but thats all for now. p.s this is intended as a bit of light hearted fun, do not be offended!

    For example:

I am so pleased to see you - I have been thinking about you

Its lovely to see you - can we meet for a coffee soon

Hi - would you like me to pop over later and vaccum for you/walk the dog/wash the dishes

Lets make plans to do something fun when you are feeling better

I know you arent well so I will send you a text now and again so that you know I am thinking about you  - its ok if you dont feel like replying

    etc etc

Come on folks Im sure we can think of loads more!

    Love Jools x

"You have cancer ?  Oh I'm so sorry ! you never know the minute do you ",

"Then again you might get run over by a bus tomorrow ! "

"Why hasnt your hair fallen out?"

"My mothers brothers postmans milkmans neices boyfriends uncles old teachers wifes dad  had kidney cancer and hes 93 now"

"You'll be ok I can feel it in my bones."

"How did you get that ?"

"You'll be glowing in the dark with all those scans !"

I think the bus one makes my teeth grind most. lol

would be funny if it wasnt true!!!!

My manager said this too me 2 months after my 1st cancer treatment had finished

' you need to stop letting the fact that you have cancer affect your work'

Another manager, while i was waiting for results of tests (turned out the cancer was back)

'you cant have it again, no-one is that unlucky'

same manager, the day  I was diagnosed

' will you be in work today?'

A colleague when i said i was going home early the day after i was diagnosed and had been crying

'why, whats wrong with you?' (she had been told I had cancer, heartless bitch)

Manager again, on my return to work after treatment

'while you have been off sick, others have had to take on your work load'

Manager AGAIN, after 1 month being off sick (had just had surgery and was due to start radiotherapy)

'you will have to come in to the office to discuss why you are still off sick, what we can do to get you back quicker and how we can stop you having any sick time in the future'

I actually work for one of the largest banks in the UK and this is really how they deal with people! Beggars belief!!!
