Radiotherapy

Less than one minute read time.

Thank you for all for your comments and support.  I am now on week two and think I am slowly getting better.  Spoke with somebody who was starting yesterday and she said she felt exactly as I did with her planning session, even before radiotherapy and I hadn't even mentioned how I felt, so made me feel better knowing not  just me.  One more request from anyone who has finished.  Any advice as to whether to put aqueous cream on every day before any problems or wait and see how bad it gets.

  • Do carry on with the aqueous cream. I slapped it on religiously but my skin only broke down two weeks AFTER treatment had finished. This is because you carry on 'cooking' for a while after treatment has finished. The tiredness also can continue after treatment ends.

    Good luck with your treatment.

    Hi Gaco,

Slap it on as often you think you need to. It wont do you any harm and will help as the treatment continues. All the best.

Take care and be safe.Big Hugs Love Sarsfield.xxx

  • Wench53,

I had a second surgery to clear margins (look at my profile page). It was fine - only one night in hospital. Radiotherapy is also fine - provided you take care and listen to all the advice about skin care. Any questions feel free to send me a PM.

    Best wishes,

    Hi Gaco

I was using the cream as soon as I finished each session of radiotherapy (in the toilettes you understand!).  However, my skin became really red and itchy a couple of weeks after the last session.  My last session was on 29th January, and here we are in July and my skin has yet to come back to normal.  I'm still using aqueous or dermol, still washing with Simple etc.  Thankfully my the skin of my face has improved and I can now use my make up!

    All the very best
