follow up after remission

Less than one minute read time.

My mum was diagnosed 3b last year with cancer spread to the omentum and bowel. She uderwent chemo and was given the all clear last dec 09. I have looked on various websites incl cancer reasearch that suggest regular check ups every 2-3 months in the beginning, becoming less frequent as time goes on. My mum will have her first check up in Aug 10 and I dont understand why she has been left so long. I have mentioned it to her and my dad but they do get upset and insist it is simply because her cancer markers were all excellent following chemo. Does any one have any comments or advice.

I was diagnosed July 09 with ovarian cancer and am having regular three month checks.  My understanding is that it is the norm.  If you're worried why don't you phone the clinical nurse specialist at the hospital your mum was treated at and ask the question - "Why so Long?"  Your mum and dad are so lucky to have such a supportive daughter!

Thanks Becky, I might make some discreet enquiries.
