The CT scan on Wednesday was OK. Well, the scan itself was fine, like being photocopied by a ring doughnut. The stuff they gave me to drink beforehand was vile - a mix of aniseed, rusty iron and marmite flavoured with orange (ugh) but I know it was so's my bowel would show up more clearly on the scan, so it had to be done. Still vile, though.
Wednesday was a 7 out of 10 day - felt quite tired.
Christie Hospital for first appointment on Thursday. Was very ready for this - had got it into my head that I would be marked up ready for radio to start. However this didn't happen, which I was disappointed about. But I saw a fab doctor who confirmed the diagnosis and treatment, gave me useful info about radio- and chemotherapy. But the marking up won't be done for another week or so, along with some sort of kidney function tests for the chemo. I was a bit let down that they weren't moving as fast as we want them to, and we're now waiting for the next appointment date to be confirmed. Soon, please!
Despite this, Thursday was an 8 out of 10 day. It was good to see the hospital; reassuring.
Friday I felt pretty tired again so we didn't do much. Mum took me to Tesco's and as well as the weekly shop I bought a new telly! My old one was very old (15 years) and this region has gone digital, so the poor old telly didn't work at all. I now have a new one, so at least I'll be able to sprawl in front of endless daytime tv treats (haha) when the radio and chemo starts.
Friday was another 7 out of 10 day.
Today's been a good day. Had my hair cut and coloured (last time it'll be coloured for a couple of months - eek! My roots will be rampant!!!) and a lovely scalp massage. Sooooo relaxing. It was great to be out in the Spring sunshine, feeling the sun's warmth on my face.
Today's a 9 out of 10 day. The only thing stopping it being a 10 is that my fiance A wasn't with me. But we know we have to be apart for a while, until his house is sold and he can move North to be with me.
Lessons learned:
1. Enjoy the good days. There is ALWAYS something good in every day.
2. Take things steady, don't do too much. Learn to accept help.
3. Be patient. It WILL happen in its own good time.
