going to the park alone

Less than one minute read time.

I am alone since my husband died but went to the park with a neighbour who takes his dogs and he talks to everyone. I also go alone, without a dog and find I can still talk to people-with and without dogs-more women are willing to chat. I haven't been telling them about my cancer. There are only a few people I told as I didn't want to be seen as a cancer patient. This might change but suits me for now, just a small circle that know-only a few to tell or reply to enquiries.  I hope you will find if you go to the park alone that you will find people to have a few words with. One or two have exchanged life stories lengthily!

  • Hi, yes going for a walk is a good idea. I’m a dog owner and often find the only people I see all day are walking their dogs. I’m trying to heal from skin cancer operation and hair loss, it’s a lonely time. People don’t understand or know what to say.

I see you posted in September, I’m hoping you are ok.
