    Case Scenario 1

     

    Employee has worked for same company for over 21 years.  The company is a small family run business in the Service Sector.  The company operates legally within the SSP system and does not have an Occupational Sickness system in place. The employee is classed as a key worker within the business.  The company has one other employee working in the office as an administrator.

    Equal rights for employee’s is based upon employee’s who are working for employers who do not operate an Occupational Sickness Scheme and only work within the United Kingdom Statutory Sick Pay Scheme.

     

    What SSP means is that the employee’s sick absence must fit within the laid down qualifying criteria to qualify and if they do not fit into the laid down criteria then they have no redress for pay…

    When you are diagnosed with Cancer the last thing on your mind is work.

     

    Then you wake up and realise, if I do not work who will pay my bills.

     

    If you work for a company who quite legally works within the framework of SSP do not count on getting any help.
