irinitecan

My mum has been having combination chemo oxaliplatin and 5fu which they have stopped before her last dose as it is not working. They have spoken about her having irinitecan (not sure i`ve spelt that right) does anyone know anything about this chemo and how it may affect her.She has bowel and secondary liver cancer.

Hello,

I had oxaliplatin and capecitabine,then 5FU but neither worked. I've just finished irinotecan and I had nausea for a week each time and was dizzy and tired but otherwise few side effects except for hair loss which is horrible. It didn't work either but it is usually effective. I had bowel ca with mets in liver and lungs. Surgery solved the bowel and liver tumours but the lung mets have never responded to chemo so I have nothing else to fight it with.
