7) Start of Hair Loss - 5 days post chemo 2 - EC

Less than one minute read time.

Well second one down now & side effects still not too bad! The worst part is that my  hair is falling out in clumps nowDisappointed relieved.

I know that should be the least of my worries but it is such a visible & long standing reminder of this horrible period of my life.  I have to say I’m finding it more difficult than I thought I would so I am allowing myself a day to have a little cry & grieve my pre cancer life before I get back on the horse again!

  • Hi Meanegg,

My hair started falling off as well after my 2nd treatment then stopped, had my 3rd treatment yesterday so I'll see if more come out. If so I'll have to get the clippers and beanies out (will save money on hairdresser!). I have registered for some workshops that you might find helpful: https://lookgoodfeelbetter.co.uk/. I also find fresh air and exercise really help with my mood, but there is no denying some days are harder that others and a little cry is sometimes necessary.

    Hope that help x

  • Thanks for your message :) I decided to take action and cut it all off and felt l a bit better after doing that.  Hopefully I can just look forward to my hair growing back after all this.

  • I hit “enter” too quickly! Thanks for the link - I must register for one of those workshops. I never thought about the possibility of losing my eyebrows so need to find a way of masking that when/if it happens.  I have my third treatment on Wed so will see how that goes - I definitely found the second one a little more intense than the first but still ok in terms of general side effects.
Good luck with the rest of your treatment

  • Hi, after three cycles of EC I still have a very thin covering of hair, all my lashes and eyebrows. A Macmillan nurse told me I will lose all body hair with Docetaxel, which I’m starting on tomorrow. xx

  • Good luck with Docetaxel - I still have some hair following my 3rd round of EC.
I have one more round of this before I move onto Paclitaxel! I am struggling with it all today (mentally more than physically) but onwards & upwards!
