24) Second Zometa Infusion

Less than one minute read time.

I was dreading this as my veins did not hold up well during chemo! It took 3 people to find a vein but we got there in the end.

The infusion itself was fine and I have been really lucky not to have had any side effects really (so far).  I can forget about this now for another 6 months.

Otherwise I’m doing well - life is pretty much back to normal (with super dodgy hair - cannot wait for my hair to grow out a bit more!) and I find that thoughts of cancer & worry of recurrence are not as prevalent as they used to be.

I still get moments of panic about it coming back & spreading but definitely not as much as before so on the whole I am feeling good & am tentatively optimistic about the future :)

  • I have my 5th Zometa this week, and empathise with you about the veins.  My hair is now longer than pre cancer, hope yours continues to grow quickly x

  • Good luck with your Zometa this week.  Mine was absolutely fine once they managed to locate a vein - that part took well over an hour.   It must be fab to have your hair back longer than it was!  Mine is growing really well which is great but it is defying gravity at the moment and is continuing to grow straight up - I look like Marge Simpson! At least it is giving my children a laugh :). Best wishes xx

  • Thank you so much for writing this. I'm due to also start the exact same chemo regime as you in Feb. I'm a solo mum of twin boys doing their GCSEs this year and whilst I've been super positive through mastectomy and recovery, I found myself wondering if I needed to be a little less positive about the impact chemo might have on my day to day. I'm self-employed and really hoping to keep working during my non-chemo weeks -I literally only need to do 1-2 hours work at a time sometimes a day and if I respond in a similar way to you then working every other week might work.

  • Hi Healing, glad you found my blog useful! It is a scary time but the chemo wasn’t nearly as bad as I thought it was going to be.
My daughter did her gcses last year & was just about to start year 11 when I got diagnosed. She coped really well but I did tell the school so they could keep an eye on her as well.

  • Sorry I pressed enter too quickly! Just wanted to say best of luck with it all & feel free to ask any questions :)
