Last Wednesday, 17th March I got invited to be a patient for 5th year medical students who were taking their final exams. I had done it before at the City Hospital but this time it was at the Queen’s Medical Centre. The taxi turned up at ten past eight and by nine o’clock I was on the examination couch in my gown. When I got off the Medilink bus I was tapped on the shoulder by one of the trainee nurses who was on the ward when I was in hospital. He is a mature student. A VERY mature student having just finished his first year at the age of 46. He is genuinely pleased that I am up and about and I tell him that I am making progress, albeit very slowly.

The other part of my cunning plan was to go to Argos on a pretext and buy her a TV for the bedroom. I have resisted her pleas for a telly in the bedroom because she will…

The Wilkie curse has struck again! On examining the scar on my face I have realised that the surgeon has taken the wrong mole off my face. Looking at the scar I couldn’t understand why it was so low and then I realised that she had taken off another mole which was lower down. Another legend to relate to the grand children!

One of my nurses has been off work with a bad back. She limped out of our house and we…
