Boating holidays - nowt to do with Roland Ratso.

1 minute read time.
Having intently read Kezzerbirds Blog regarding the Llangollen canal and a comment that someone had never been and would like to go I would like to recommend The Bruce Wake Trust on http://www.brucewaketrust.co.uk/ which is a charitable trust that caters specifically for disabled boaters. Bruce Wake died of motor neurone disease and left a trust fund for disabled (and not so disabled) to have their own cruising holidays. We have taken our uncle who was a schizophrenic paraplegic many times on their boats. There is full wheelchair access, 240 volt power for any medical equipemtn you need and a fully equipped disabled persons toilet and shower along with a hoist to get in and out of bed. The boats are based at Upton upon Severn which gives easy access to the Severn, River Avon, and the canal system. There are a number of weekly or fortnightly cruises including the Avon ring which can be done in a week with a really strong crew. As Kezzerbird describes, there are many pubs and other interests along the way and it really is a holiday for old and young alike. Full instruction is given by a qualified skipper so you don't make a complete arse of yourselves. Have a look at the website - the rates are much cheaper than commercial boatyards and the boats really are first class. If you need any further information please do not hesitate to contact me either here or in a private mesage. Love Drew x
