ECX x 4

1 minute read time.
Its Sunday 19th April and I am sat on the sofa with my feet up as they have been since Friday. This session seems to have knocked the socks off me so I am doing what my body tells me to and thats to rest. It makes me feel guilty though as my boys get all the jobs to do. They are doing them really well though and some bits are so entertaining, didnt know watching someone do the housework could be so funny! I want to get outside but its so chilly today so will give it a miss and hopefully things will warm up soon. Its been three months now since diagnosis and I dont recognise my life really. Changes are good sometimes and challenging and I like a good challenge. Gonna spend some time catching up on movies that I havent seen and books that I havent read as I could never find the time. I am looking forward to the chemo coming to an end so I can feel a little more like my normal self but I know I need it to attack this bloody disease. Going on hols in four weeks time so I want to build myself up for that and have a good break with my hubby. He needs a good break as he works hard at home and at work, its never ending for him. All carers need a medal. He's gone off to the gym now to pump some iron - lucky man. I have signed up to do the race for life again this year! Optimistic I know but I have always ran it and tried to beat my time. I shant be running it this year and have my dads electric wheelchair on standy if I need it but hopefully a gentle stroll with some girlfriends dressed in pink will do the job and raise some money. If you want to sponsor me then please feel free, if your doing it yourself then good luck, wish it was sponsored dancing really as I would enjoy that more. Heres the link anyway: http://www.raceforlifesponsorme.org/joannereeson2 Am gonna do the chick thing now and watch Thelma and Louise whilst lazing on the sofa - Sunday afternoon heaven. Hope everyone is trucking along nicely x x

Has anyone else on ECX had any chest pains - angina like as described in the side effects?

Cant seem to shake them off so might have to see a doctor tomorrow.  Its so painful - I cant have three more weeks of this.

    All comments welcome x

  • Hi Dizzywench

I would think you need to see a doctor about this.  A lesser known side effect of one of the drugs, Capecitabine, can change the heart function slightly and cause angina-like symptoms.  You will find details of this under the heading 'Less Common Side Effects' on the link below:

Call your doctor just to get it sorted out. Take care.

girl after my own heart, i love to dance although havent had much chance to do it recently ha ha. dont feel guilty letting the family help with the housework, its important to listen to your body i, stubborn bi**h that i am ignored mine after my first and ended up in hospital the first time, flippin ambulance at my door and all!!!, silly me the whole family thought i was on my way out, scared the bejesus, outta them lol. seriously 4 flipping days they kept me in, i wont be ignoring pain again. i`d had it for 4 days and it was in my shoulder getting worse and worse, turned out my liver had enlarged, anyway now i know phone the hospital, daytime chemo unit night cancer ward, what i  was told was, we`d rather you rang for nothing than not ring for somethings just ring them describe the pain and even if they only tell you to take painkillers at least you`ll know.enjoy your film an good luck. liz x

Hiya, well the chest pains got worse last night and then my body decided to throw up.  I knew this was not a good sign and managed to get hubby to get me an ambulance for swift delivery to A & E.  WHAT A NIGHT!!!  I thought it was going to be a heart attack.  My hubby was just on his way out the door to work so I am glad I managed to catch him in time.

Had chest xray, ecg and nothing cardiac to worry about so thank god for that.

I wouldnt take the ecx today until I saw the oncologist.  He gave me a PPI and gaviscon???  Will take a couple of days off then start chemo tabs again on Thursday.

I seem to get pain after I have eaten now which has never happened before.  It seems to be a very dull ache at the bottom and the back, kidneys, under the diaghram.  May be it will pass, lets hope so.

So dont hang about if you get the pains - its definately not worth waiting for it to pass.

Thanks for the messages x x
